About the Committees

State Representative Delia Ramirez is excited to announce a new initiative to better serve 4th District residents and co-govern with the help of community residents and stakeholders. In the coming months, our office is launching Advisory Committees, which will help advise Rep. Ramirez on her priority areas of work in Springfield. 

​

Members of Advisory Committees will provide Rep. Ramirez with valuable input about what is happening in the community, what needs to be prioritized and shape her legislative priorities. This space will build relationships, share best practices, and develop policy recommendations for Rep. Ramirez.

Who Should Apply or Be Nominated?

​

We seek individuals who share our goals to build more equitable and just communities for all and systems of governance that are accountable, transparent, and responsive to the needs of the community, especially those that are most marginalized. All are encouraged to apply, but we especially encourage applicants who are 4th district residents that have deep roots in the community, those who have a critical understanding of the issues facing the 4th district and the state, and individuals with lived experience related to the subject matter of the advisory committees.

What are the Areas of Focus?

​

There will be five Advisory Committees, one for each of the following issue areas:

• Housing and Homelessness

• Justice Reform and Community Safety

• Education and Child Welfare

• Healthcare and Human Services

• Economic Development and Small Businesses

What Are the Expectations?

Advisory Committee members will be expected to serve 2 years, the duration of a term of the Illinois General Assembly. Committees will meet quarterly with occasional communications over email as Rep. Ramirez seeks feedback or input on current matters.
