Delia Ramirez is the State Representative for Illinois’ 4th House District. She is an accomplished social service director, community leader, and coalition builder who has dedicated much of her life and career to the Humboldt Park and Logan Square communities. She is a dedicated public servant, who uses her experience as a social service administrator, community organizer, and policy advocate to bring the voice of working people to Springfield.
Rep. Ramirez has spent most of her career working with local nonprofits to address issues facing residents of the 4th district. As the founding executive director of the Center for Changing Lives (CCL) and board chair for Latin United Community Housing Association (LUCHA) and Logan Square Neighborhood Association (LSNA), she worked directly with and advocated for families impacted by issues of housing and homelessness, education, and public safety. She also served on the leadership staff of Common Cause IL and Community Renewal Society, two statewide non-profits that lead advocacy work on issues of voting rights and criminal justice reform.
As a state legislator, Rep. Ramirez currently serves on five legislative committees; Appropriations-Human Services, Adoption & Child Welfare (Vice-Chairperson), Elem Sec Ed: Adm., Lic. & Charter, Judiciary - Criminal, and Mental Health. She also serves on the following task forces and working groups; Taskforce on Children of the Incarcerated, DCFS Reform Workgroup, and a Property Tax Reform Taskforce.
Delia is a lifelong resident of the Humboldt Park community currently residing in the same block where she grew up. She is the daughter of immigrant parents and the first Guatemalan American to serve in the Illinois General Assembly.
